There are a number of sentencing options available in criminal matters such as good behaviour bond, dismissal of charges and conditional discharge, conviction with no other penalty, deferral of sentencing for rehabilitation or participation in an intervention program and suspension of sentences.
Offences may also be dealt with under mental health provisions which in some situations may lead to dismissal of the offence by the court which may make additional orders relating to treatment of the offender and/or release of the offender into another person’s care.
